Storm Team 10: Wintry weekend outlook

While Friday was without a doubt the coldest of the season thus far, Southern New England is in for some wintry weather beginning early Saturday morning. (MGN)

Light snow developing early Saturday morning...will be steady for a while before mixing with and changing to rain.

Here's the breakdown:

SNOW STARTS: Roughly 2-4am with a few hours of moderate snow from 7-10AM.

ACCUMULATION: 1-2" along the immediate south coast. 2-4" for much of us. 3-5" NW RI up toward Worcester

CHANGE TO RAIN: Happens across the Cape & the immediate southern parts of RI & Mass in the 8-10AM time frame. But cold air hangs tough farther inland. Likely will see a transition to sleet & freezing rain from 9am to noon in the Providence to Taunton area.

RAIN/MIX ENDS: Should see an end to the freezing rain & rain mid afternoon roughly 3-5PM...concerned about the temps though. Near freezing temps are still possible for a while Saturday evening across northern RI & northern Bristol CO Mass...potential for icy spots.

SATURDAY NIGHT/SUNDAY: Temps will rise after midnight Sunday through the 40s and into the mid 50s by Sunday afternoon. A southwest wind will develop and another round of rain is likely through late Sunday.

TONIGHT: Cloudy, light snow develops after midnight. Low: teens

SATURDAY: Early snow 1-3" near the coast, 2-4" for most before a change to rain. High: 39

SUNDAY: On/off rain. High: 55

MONDAY; Mostly sunny. High: 30

TUESDAY: Partly sunny. High: 39

WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy. High: 44

THURSDAY: Chance of rain showers. High: 44
