Late cancellations plague Rhode Island Comic Con again

Rhode Island Comic Con opens Friday in Providence. But in the days leading up to the convention, organizers have had to announce several last-minute guest cancellations.

Within the past week or so, appearances by Mark Ruffalo, Richard Dreyfuss and Jon Bernthal have been nixed.

This morning, Rhode Island Comic Con announced several actors from the enormously popular “The Walking Dead” will also be no-shows.

Organizers said AMC, the network which airs "The Walking Dead," has blocked Norman Reedus, Tom Payne, Lennie James and Khary Payton from appearing, due to filming schedule changes.

All four actors are currently on the show, and production lasts well into November.

RICC organizers said refunds for professional photo-ops and autograph signings are being processed.

This is not the first time RICC has had to deal with cancellations days –- or hours –- before the convention opens.

As with those situations, admission ticket refunds are not refunded.

There’s a disclaimer on RICC’s website stating guest appearances are subject to change.

We’ll update this story as more information becomes available.
