Providence police said they have a suspect in custody in the shooting death of 15-year-old Ger'Vontae Tilson on Saturday.
The West Warwick teenager was shot and killed on Wallace Street just after 11 p.m. on July 23, police said.
It marked the fifth homicide in the capital city this year.
Arrests have also been made in the four other cases.
"We are a hundred percent this year on the solve rates," Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza said.
Shortly after Tilson's death, police shared they believed he was targeted, and said they were looking for one or more suspects in the case.
"I can tell you that our police department never stops searching for the people responsible," Elorza said.
As of Saturday, little was released about the person in custody, including their name or motive.
Tilson was remembered by family and friends in a vigil shortly after the shooting.
NBC 10 News spoke to Tilson's mother Marisol, who also goes by Maddie, who said he loved his siblings, playing basketball and making music.
She said she wanted justice.
"I hope and pray that the detectives and the police do what they are supposed to do, and they find who did this to my son," Tilson said.
