Chemical spill reported at Central Landfill

JOHNSTON, R.I. — A chemical spill was reported Friday at a facility connected to the Central Landfill in Johnston.

Fire officials told NBC 10 that a hose offloading sodium hydroxide from a tanker truck became detached and spilled 10 gallons of the substance on the ground.

No injuries were reported.

Fire officials say there was no danger and an environmental company was called to clean up the spill.
