PROVIDENCE — A fire consumed 20 cars in a salvage lot on Huntington Avenue in Providence on Saturday evening.
Battalion Chief William Kenyon of the Providence Fire Department says his crews arrived at A&M International Auto Salvage around 6:20 p.m.
That's where they found the cars on fire, some even producing small explosions.
The fire at the salvage yard, which is right off of Route 10, was causing debris to fall onto the highway. Amtrak train tracks run right past the salvage yard and officials were forced to temporarily halt train service.
Nobody was hurt in the blaze. Over 30 firefighters were called to the scene.
Providence Fire is investigating the incident and has yet to say whether it is suspicious or not.
