Providence woman arrested for DUI with two kids in car

    Rhode Island State Police arrested a Providence woman early Sunday morning on charges of DUI while driving with her five-year-old and three-year-old children in the car. A be-on-the-lookout call came into Seekonk police for an erratic operator. An East Providence police officer found the vehicle and followed it to Providence while traveling on 195-West. The car was pulled over for failure to maintain lanes. State police arrived on-scene at 3:25 a.m. on Sunday when they noticed numerous signs of intoxication. Troopers identified the woman as Carol Salgado, 29, of Providence and noticed a three-year-old boy and a five-year-old boy, both improperly restrained in the back seat. Salgado failed a series of field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest.{} Salgado refused a breathalyzer test and was charged with DUI and Refusal to Submit to a Breath Test. She was also cited for{}No SeatbeltOperator, Child Passenger Restraint Required and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical TestSalgado was arraigned before a justice of the peace and released to a family member. Her children were released to a family member and DCYF was notified.{}Salgado is scheduled to appear in Sixth Division District Court on April 10, 2015.{}
