NBC 10 I-Team: Local singer accused of child molestation
Local singer and entertainer Tony Cerbo was arrested at his home Monday night on a charge of first-degree child molestation following an investigation by the Johnston Police Department, the NBC 10 I-Team has confirmed.
Police said Cerbo used an online app to meet the alleged victim, who is a boy under the age of 16, and somehow got the boy to come to his home, police said. Johnston police detectives executed a search warrant at Cerbo’s home Monday and seized evidence related to the case.
Cerbo was arraigned in Kent County District Court on Tuesday morning and ordered held without bail due to the severity of the charges, police said. He’s due back in court Dec. 11 for a bail hearing. The case was also referred to a grand jury.
Johnston police told the NBC 10 I-Team that its investigation is ongoing.
