A new Miss Rhode Island is crowned
There is a new Miss Rhode Island.
Nicolette Peloquin, 21, was crowned Miss Rhode Island 2017 on Sunday night.
She is a student at Salve Regina University and performed a tumbling routine as part of the talent competition. Her platform is “Be the Match: The National Bone Marrow Registry.
Peloquin will be competing in the Miss America pageant in September in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
As part of the same event on Sunday night, Caroline Hollingsworth, 15 of East Greenwich, was crowned Miss Rhode Island’s Outstanding Teen.
She played the piano and her platform involves music education.
The event took place at the Casino Theater in Newport.
