Fire crews from Dartmouth and surrounding communities responded to a call for fire in the area of 777 Horseneck Road at approximately 6:20 a.m. on Saturday that destroyed a barn belonging to a local business.

Fire crews from Dartmouth, Tiverton, Westport, Freetown and Little Compton responded with assistance for the barn fire.

There were no hydrants in the area, so multiple tanker trucks from surrounding departments helped out.

The barn belonged a local business called Cluck and Trowel.

According to their website Cluck and Trowel is a small family farm raising pastured poultry and heritage pork as well as a variety of seasonal produce.

On their facebook page Saturday morning Cluck and Trowel owners posted this statement: "We are all ok. This morning we lost our barn and 2019 flock of layers in an early morning fire. We are humbled and grateful for the love of our neighbors and thecommitment of Dartmouth and Westport fire departments. Cluck and Trowel will not be at @farmfreshri ‘s Pawtucket Market until we can get back on our feet."

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
