A convicted sex trafficker was sentenced Wednesday to 85 years in prison. Prosecutors said Troy Footman sold a 14-year-old girl for sex at a strip club in Providence.

The Boston man was sentenced in Providence Superior Court. The victim spoke in court while Footman looked on.

"I was just a vulnerable little girl and you ruined that," the girl said.

Footman was arrested in 2013 and convicted last year.

Investigators said he had a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old runaway, who he then had stripping at Cheaters strip club in Providence.

Police said Footman got a fake identification card for the girl so she could get hired at Cheaters. They said he drove her to and from the strip club and took the money she made stripping.

Authorities said Footman was then pimping out the girl on and at Cheaters.

"Let's try and imagine how one can ever return to a regular life after even a day spent in her shoes, let alone more than 7 months," prosecutor Sara Tindall-Woodman said.

Cheaters closed not long after the arrest.

Footman took his chance to speak in court to say he'll appeal because his lawyer did a bad job.

"The result was a guilty verdict for an innocent man," Footman said.

Footman previously was convicted in 1999 of interstate transportation of a minor for prostitution. He spent 13 years behind bars for that and was arrested for this crime less than two years after getting out.
