The Narragansett Council of the Boy Scouts of America announced Tuesday night the cancellation of summer camps due to coronavirus concerns.

The council posted on their Facebook page that there will be no Cub Scout Day Camp at Camp Champlin, Camp Norse, or Camp Aquapaug.

They also noted there will be no on-site Scout Camp at Camp Yawgoog.

Tim McCandless, scout executive and CEO, said instead, they will soon launch virtual camps for scouts with activities that can be done from home.

"The pandemic situation is evolving and information changes daily," noted McCandless. "We will adjust plans as needed."

A virtual roundtable discussion on the scouts program options is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday. It can watched on the council's Facebook page.
