Central Falls High School wins grant for its theater program

A Rhode Island school is one of 50 in the country to win a $10,000 grant for its theater program.

Central Falls High School was selected to receive a R.I.S.E America Grant from NBC through the Educational Theater Foundation.

Schools can use the money to cover anything from production expenses to technical equipment and master classes.

Students were surprised with the news during a lunchtime assembly.

The grant is tied to the upcoming NBC show "Rise," which premieres March 13. The program follows the effects a high school theater department has on its surrounding community,
