City of Providence to transfer historic Bomes Theatre to developer for restoration

Threatened by neglect, the Bomes Theatre is a two-story, Beaux Arts-style, flat-roof, brick structure with stone trim. It is embellished with elaborate terra cotta trim and detailed moldings on the facade. It will now be transferred to a developer for a restoration.

The City of Providence will announce the transfer of the historic Bomes Theatre to a developer who will oversee its redevelopment.

The long-abounded structure on Broad Street will go to Developer Fernando Tavares.

The extent of the rehabilitation will be announced on Thursday at the Bomes Theatre on 1017 Broad Street.
