Coventry man arrested on animal cruelty charges
A Coventry man is under arrest on charges he caused severe injury to a then- 11-week-old puppy back in August.
According to the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Eduardo Garcia, 27, allegedly beat a boxer puppy named Tyson, fracturing humerus and inflicting head trauma.
The puppy was treated at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists in East Greenwich; the vet’s office says Tyson’s injuries were consistent with blunt force trauma.
The penalty for animal cruelty includes five years and a fine of up to $1,000.
