Cranston Fire Department to distribute free smoke alarms

The Cranston Fire Department accepted 500 smoke and carbon monoxide alarms Monday that were donated by The Home Depot.

The detectors will be distributed to local families in Providence, Warwick, Cranston and Central Falls, free of charge.

It's part of the Red Cross campaign called Sound the Alarm.
