Massachusetts State Police said a 15-year-old boy led police on a car chase before crashing into a telephone pole in Foxborough.

Investigators said a trooper was stopped at a crash on Interstate 495 in Raynham early Wednesday morning when a passing car nearly struck his vehicle. The trooper pursued the suspect into Mansfield as the car traveled more than 100 mph.

Authorities said a few minutes after the police decided to end the chase, state troopers and local police responded to a crash on Cedar Street at about 3 a.m.

Authorities said the suspect in the chase, a 15-year-old Stoughton boy, crashed into a telephone pole. The boy was taken into custody and treated for injuries at Boston Medical Center.

State police said they recovered a handgun at the scene.

The boy, whose name was not released because of his age, will face charges.
