East Providence fire destroys house, creates traffic
A fire in East Providence not only resulted in a massive plume of smoke Wednesday night, it also created traffic.
The city’s fire department said fire fighters battled the two-alarm fire at an abandoned house on the Wampanoag Trail at the intersection of Forbes Road.
Authorities said flames broke out right before 6 p.m., causing a major traffic problem for East Bay commuters during rush hour, as police closed the southbound Wampanoag Trail.
While no one was injured, the house was destroyed.
The fire is under investigation.
