FALL RIVER, Mass. — A Massachusetts legislative committee is scheduled to hear a bill that would designate Gold Star Families Memorial Monument in Fall River as the state's official Gold Star memorial.
The monument pays tribute to fallen heroes that have not returned home from combat.
The movement is sponsored by Democratic Rep. Alan Silva of Fall River, Herald News reports.
The project broke ground last year in Bicentennial Park. Construction is being funded through private donations.
The bill hearing will take place on Tuesday.
