Fall River woman reported missing found dead, police say
A Fall River woman who was reported missing has been found dead, authorities said.
Police said the body of Janet Marie Jimenez was located "outdoors in an obscure area near a building several blocks north of her residence" on Wednesday around 12:30 p.m.
“Unfortunately, upon her discovery it was determined that Ms. Jimenez was deceased for an extended period of time,” police said.
Jimenez was last seen in the area of Lindsey Street on July 3.
Police previously said Jimenez was bipolar and suffered from numerous psychiatric issues. She stopped taking her medication several days before she was reported missing.
Authorities said she left her purse and phone behind, which she normally never does.
The Chief Medical Examiner's Office took custody Jimenez’s body and will do an autopsy and toxicology tests to determine the cause of her death, according to police.
While police said it does not appear that foul play was a factor, the investigation is ongoing.
“The Fall River Police Department extends our deepest sympathies to the Jimenez family,” police said. “We would also like to thank all of the citizens that provided any tips to aid in the investigation.”
