(WJAR) — Police are investigating an early-morning shooting in Providence that injured a man.
The Providence Police Department responded around midnight to Whelan Road for the reported shooting.
Police say the shooting was connected to a cookout and multiple shots were fired.
One man was shot in the face and his injuries were considered non-life-threatening, according to the department.
Police say the man who was shot then went a few blocks away to Bodell Avenue where he was later taken to the hospital.
This happened in the neighborhood just south of Merino Park.
No suspects are currently in custody.
