NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WJAR) -- Police charged a New Bedford man in the fatal stabbing of a 27-year-old man.
According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, a man was stabbed inside a New Bedford home at 291 Emerson St. during an altercation early Sunday morning.
When police arrived, they found Steven Doyle, of New Bedford, suffering from a stab wound to the chest.
Doyle died at St. Luke’s Hospital from his injuries, the district attorney's office said.
Investigators identified William Macomber, 55 of New Bedford, as the suspect after interviewing witnesses.
Law enforcement found Macomber in a parked vehicle on Shawmut Avenue and arrested him.
Macomber is expected to be arraigned Monday in New Bedford District Court.
