New Bedford man charged with murder in Dartmouth hotel parking lot shooting
Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn announced Thursday night that an arrest has been made for a homicide that took place Saturday.
Quinn said Robert A. Rose Jr., 48, of New Bedford, was arrested Thursday evening by Dartmouth police.
Rose has been charged with murder of 37-year-old Joseph Tavares of Fall River. He was also charged with misleading police.
According to police, they were called to Regency Hotel on Faunce Corner Road in Dartmouth Saturday, just after 10:30 p.m., after the hotel manager told them a man was bleeding heavily inside a car in the rear parking lot.
When police arrived, they said they found Tavares unresponsive in the driver's seat and was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford and was pronounced dead at 11:07 p.m.
Rose is expected to be arraigned in New Bedford District Court Friday morning.
