NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WJAR) — The New Bedford Police Department was hit was ransomware attack on Thursday.
Mayor Jon Mitchell's office said the attack had impacts on some of the department servers and computers.
As a precaution, the city said the police department's non-emergency office phone network was also placed out of service. It has since been reactivated.
No other city departments were affected, said the mayor's office.
New Bedford's cybersecurity consultants don't believe any data was accessed or taken.
