A Webster police officer has died after being involved in a motor vehicle accident Saturday morning.

Webster Police confirm in a Facebook post that Officer Michael Lee ,38, died after an accident while off duty.

“Michael had a way of bringing a smile to everyone's face the moment he encountered them.” the post read, “He was an outstanding officer, SWAT operator, investigator, and person. He will be missed by not only his colleagues in law enforcement, but by the community he served. We take solace in the fact that he is now watching our backs from above like he always did on the ground. Always Remembered and Never Forgotten.”

Massachusetts State Police say at around 1 a.m., they responded to a crash on Rt. 395 south of exit 6 in Auburn. State Police say Lee was driving a 2015 Toyota Tundra and struck a tractor-trailer that was parked in the breakdown lane.
