Pedestrian struck on Route 18 in New Bedford

A pedestrian was struck by a car and seriously injured in New Bedford early Tuesday morning.

State police said a 28-year-old man from South Yarmouth, suffered life-threatening injuries when he was struck on Route 18 at about 6:15 a.m.

The driver was an 81-year-old man from Acushnet.
