Man killed in Johnston motorcycle crash remembered
A man was killed in a Johnston motorcycle crash Friday night.
Rhode Island State Police identified him as 48-year-old Richard Young, 48, of Johnston.
Young was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Johnston police told NBC 10 News the motorcycle collided with an SUV on Hartford Avenue around 7:30 p.m.
Witnesses said the driver of the motorcycle, who was wearing a helmet was going “fast.”
State Police were at the scene investigating, noting that the driver of the SUV, who was not harmed, was turning left into a Cumberland Farms when it crashed with the motorcycle.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, said police.
NBC 10 spoke to some of Young's family members on Saturday. They say Ricky Young was a loving husband and father of 3 kids.
Young was also a national champion roller skater. He frequented the Forrest's Family Fun Center in Taunton.
His friends in Taunton will host a "final skate" in his honor next Saturday.
No arrests have been made and the accident remains under investigation.
