Police: No alternate routes to Wrentham outlets on Black Friday
Wrentham police said all traffic heading into Wrentham Village Premium Outlets will be restricted to one route on Black Friday.
Police said the only way in will be Interstate 495 to exit 15.
Chief Bill McGrath said on Facebook that shoppers should ignore any alternate routes recommended by GPS.
"Beginning on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, ALL alternate 'GPS' routes will be closed, shut down, roadblocked with a really friendly police officer turning you away," McGrath said.
"Just when you thought you beat the traffic jam, you'll have to backtrack and get behind everyone else and be wicked mad! So don't be a turkey and fall for that alluring GPS voice tempting you to go any other way except 495 to exit 15!" the chief said.
"You've been warned!!" he said.
McGrath told NBC 10 News roads have been getting jammed by Black Friday drivers following GPS short cuts.
“We’ve been hearing plenty. A lot of frustration,” he said. “These neighborhoods aren’t built for this kind of traffic.”
Everett Skinner said he is all for the roadblocks. He lives on one of the side roads, which he said has been blocked off for the last few Black Fridays.
But before that, he said it was awful.
“Kept me awake all night. Bedroom’s on the front of the house,” Skinner said. “Three cars a minute going by here, steady stream till like three o’clock in the morning.”
Wrentham Village is closed on Thanksgiving and will be open on Black Friday from midnight to 10 p.m., according to its website.
