Providence police released additional details Monday about a crash involving a Providence police cruiser that was caught on camera.

According to the police report, Patrolman Adrian Francis was trying to stop a car that took off from a scene Friday afternoon.

Security video showed Francis's police SUV drive through a stop sign at the intersection of Portland and Friendship streets, where it was hit by another car.

The cruiser rolled over and hit an unoccupied car that was parked.

Francis was treated at a hospital and released. The driver of the car that hit the SUV, Lesbia Garcia DeLaCruz of Providence, was also treated.

The driver who was sought, George Charland, was eventually stopped by another officer and was charged with reckless driving and alcohol counts.
