Power knocked out as gusty winds buffet Southern New England
Hundreds of homes and businesses lost power early Tuesday as strong winds blew through Southern New England.
National Grid reported that about 450 customers were without power in Providence County as of 8 a.m. About 300 homes and businesses in Washington County were without power. Outages were also reported in the state's three other counties.
National Grid said about 200 homes and business had no power in Bristol County.
Eversource said electricity was out to about 70 customers on the South Coast. Power was restored in Provincetown, where about one-third of its customers were in the dark at one point.
Commuters were advised to use caution approaching intersections because traffic lights might be out.
Gusts between 36 and 45 mph were recorded across Southern New England.
