Police arrest 16 in prostitution sting

Three police departments joined together to execute a prostitution sting that lead to the arrest of more than a dozen "Johns."

Members of the Pawtucket Police Department, the Central Falls Police Department and members of Cranston Police Department's vice unit arrested 15 people on Thursday in a sting executed to address sex-trafficking in two neighborhoods in those cities.

During the all-day sting female police officers from Central Falls, Pawtucket and Cranston posed as prostitutes and were placed in high traffic areas of Dexter and Broad Streets.

Pawtucket police arrested one person for loitering for prostitution and eight people for attempting to participate in sexual conduct for a fee. Central Falls arrested a total of seven people for attempting to procure sexual conduct for a fee. All those arrested were arraigned in front of a District Court bail commissioner and will appear in court on September 20.

Ildo Gomes, 51, of Pawtucket

Khary Jones, 33, 22 Glendale St. of Dorchester, Mass. was charged with one count of Pandering or Permitting Prostitution.
