
Providence — Police are investigating two separate shootings that happened on Plainfield Street Saturday night.
The first incident was reported around 4:30 p.m. at 675 Plainfield Street near the Neutaconkanut Recreation Center.
According to police an 18-year-old male was shot by another male. The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospitals with serious injuries. As of late Saturday night the victim was in an unknown condition.
A witness told police the suspect fled on foot and that the suspect was a young male, approximately the same age as the victim. Investigators were examining a vehicle at the scene of the incident.
The second incident happened around 8 p.m. at a home located at 796 Plainfield Street, about 500 feet away from the first shooting.
Police say nobody was injured but that a projectile was found inside the home. A neighbor told NBC10 he heard three or four gunshots and saw a man running away from the scene.
Police haven't determined at this time if the shootings are connected. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
