Due to storm conditions, Providence Public Schools have announced delays for Thursday.

A press release also noted that a citywide parking ban will remain in effect until 6 a.m., while trash and recycling collection will continue on its regular schedule.

“City offices will be open and will operate during normal business hours,” according to the release, adding that “the morning session of the Sunrise Program at Robert F. Kennedy Elementary School is canceled.”

As of 9 p.m., at least five private schools were also delayed two hours. They include Sophia Academy, San Miguel School, Providence Center School, Jewish Community Day School, and French-American School of Rhode Island.

NBC 10’s Chief Meteorologist Mark Searles says snow will continue overnight into early Thursday.

As the storm intensifies to the south, it looks like some of the steadiest snow will develop just before midnight and last through 6 a.m. Thursday.

Snow showers are still likely early Thursday morning and we certainly could be looking at a slower than usual morning commute.

Conditions improve through Thursday morning and the afternoon looks mainly cloudy with a scattered snow or rain shower possible.

Chilly temperatures will continue through the weekend and into early next week, but the 10-Day Forecast has a couple of 50-degree forecast highs showing up.
