Rhode Island has permanently banned the sale of flavored vaping products as of Thursday.

The ban follows an emergency order that went into effect October, temporarily banning the sale of flavored vape products. The emergency regulations would have expired April 1.

The state Department of Health submitted final regulations to the secretary of state earlier this month.

Those final, non-emergency regulations have no time limit and they prohibit the sale of flavored ENDS products.

The state Department of Health said its goal is to protect teenagers, who are known to use flavored vapes.
