A man who was shot by police after authorities said he pointed a gun at officers in Easton has been identified.

Authorities on Monday said 29-year-old Serge J. Andre Jr., of Hyde Park, is in serious condition at Boston Medical Center.

A press release noted that Andre is facing multiple charges, including attempt to commit a crime-breaking and entering, failure to stop for police, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, which is a second offense.

Police said they responded to Bay Road Sunday at about 2 p.m. when a homeowner reported a man knocking on her door. She said there was also a car in the driveway.

But when officers approached the house, they said the man sped away in the car.

Police said the man got out of the car and pointed a gun at officers, who shot him at least once.

The two officers involved in the shooting were placed on leave, which is standard procedure.

Andre might face more charges as the investigation continues, authorities said.
