RICHMOND, R.I., (WJAR) -- A 43-year-old man required extraction after his van smashed into a utility pole in Richmond Sunday morning.
Jeffery Fortin was traveling north on Nooseneck Hill Road when he struck a utility pole and broke it into three pieces said the Richmond Police Department.
Police reported power lines on the roof of the vehicle, said the Hope Valley Fire Department had to use the jaws of life to extract the driver from the damaged vehicle.
Fortin was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Richmond Police say that alcohol was not a factor.
National Grid rerouted the power, and crews worked the scene to restore the area’s power said Richmond PD.
