Weapons and drugs seized from Kentucky biker gang during Warwick traffic stop

Rhode Island State Police arrest four Kentucky Outlaw Motorcycle Gang Members during a traffic stop on Friday.

Troopers assigned to the Hope Valley Barracks conducted a motor vehicle stop of four motorcycles operated by members of the Iron Horseman Motorcycle Gang out of Kentucky for moving violations on Route 95 in Warwick on Friday afternoon.

A probable cause search of the bikers resulted in Troopers seizing several knives in excess of three inches. Troopers also seized a loaded 9mm Keltec hand gun, a loaded .380 Keltec handgun and the seizure of a weapon other than a firearm.

Operator one, identified as 55-year-old Robert Frayer of Princeton, Kentucky, was taken into custody and transported to the Hope Valley Barracks. Frayer was processed, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and released after posting ten thousand dollars surety bail. A formal hearing on scheduled Monday, September 28th. Frayer was charged with 2 counts for not having a license or permit required for carrying a pistol and two counts for having weapons other than firearms.

Operator two, identified as 41-year-old Michael Matteson of Benton, Kentucky, was taken into custody and transported to the Hope Valley Barracks. Matteson was processed, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and released after posting ten thousand dollars surety bail. Matteson was charged with possession of Schedule I-V (Clonazepam) and weapons other than firearms.

Operator three, identified as 58-year-old Jerry Palmer of Princeton, Kentucky was taken into custody and transported to the Hope Valley Barracks. Palmer was processed, arraigned by Justice of the Peace and released after posting ten thousand dollars surety bail charged with three counts of weapons other than firearms.

Operator four, identified as 47-year-old Steven Overby of 405 Hardin, Kentucky was taken into custody and transported to the Hope Valley Barracks. Overby was processed, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace, and released after posting ten thousand dollars surety bail charged with possession of cchedule I-V (Crystal Methamphetamine)

A person convicted of possessing a firearm without a license is subject to a fine up to ten thousand dollars, imprisonment for not less than one nor more than ten years, or both.

A person convicted of possessing a weapon other than a firearm is subject to a fine up to one thousand dollars ($1,000), imprisonment for not more than one year, or both

A person convicted of possessing schedule I-V narcotics is subject to a fine not more than five thousand dollars, imprisonment for not more than three years, or both.

Colonel O’Donnell stated, “I commend the Troopers for their attention to detail in seizing firearms and contraband. With the current climate and ongoing disputes between rival Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs in our region, these arrests may have prevented some violence.”
