A Hyannis woman has been charged with stealing a box of items being auctioned off at a chartable event in the honor of fallen officer Sgt. Sean Gannon.

Barnstable Police say Maureen E. Wiggin, 56, was captured on video swiping a decorative box containing golf balls, baseball hats, and a variety of shirts.

Police were called to The Cape Codder Resort, where the function was being held, when the box was found to be missing.

According to Barnstable Police, the video showed Wiggin take the box and walk out of the venue.

Police say Wiggins was uncooperative when confronted with accusation. The box and items were found in her vehicle’s trunk and returned to the function.

Wiggin is being charged with Larceny of Property under $1,200.

Yarmouth PD Sgt. Sean Gannon was killed in the line-of-duty on April 12, 2018.

The proceeds of the night will go to the Yarmouth Police Foundation.
