Woman suffers life-threatening injuries in multi-car highway crash

A Swansea woman was seriously hurt in a three-car crash on Interstate 95 south in Foxborough Friday night, according to authorities.

Massachusetts State Police told WHDH an unidentified 53-year-old woman was taken to Tufts Medical Center in Boston by helicopter with life-threatening injuries. Her condition wasn’t immediately known.

The Foxborough Fire Department said they responded to the multi-car crash between exits 7 and 8 just before 6 p.m.

The crash involved two other drivers, including a 33-year-old man from North Attleborough, as well as a 28-year-old woman from Warwick. Police said they were not hurt.

Traffic was backed up for about an hour and a half, with authorities clearing the scene by 7:30 p.m.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
