Unionized workers at Women and Infants Hospital overwhelmingly voted no confidence in the hospital’s leadership on Tuesday.

Representatives of District 1199 SEIU New England said the no-confidence vote follows unresolved grievances and arbitrations.

Workers said short-staffing is an ongoing problem and that the administration has failed to communicate any clear plan to stabilize the workforce.

The union claims the hospital has ignored the union's attempt to talk about using American Rescue Plan Act funding to address staffing issues.

Care New England says it supports the leadership team running the hospital.

"Care New England executive leadership, the Care New England Board of Trustees and the Women & Infants Hospital (WIH) Medical Executive Committee (an elected body representing all Medical Staff) have expressed their full confidence in the leadership team at Women & Infants Hospital," the company said.
