Disney to create 3 new 'Star Wars' films
Disney says it has hired "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" director Rian Johnson to create a new "Star Wars" trilogy. The company did not reveal any release dates for the films. Three new films will be made. Disney says corners of the galaxy with new characters will be explored.
Pawtucket-based Hasbro has its sights set on Mattel. If these two companies merge it would create the largest toy company in the world. The fact that they are even talking shows how technology has shaken up the toy industry. Hasbro owns Nerf, Transformers and My Little Pony. Mattel owns Barbie, American Girl dolls and Hot Wheels cars.
Meanwhile, there are also reports that Rupert Murdoch, owner of the company that runs Fox News, may have made an offer to buy CNN. Two people tell the Wall Street Journal that Murdoch didn't offer to buy CNN, while others say he did mention buying it. Either way, AT&T's CEO says it's not for sale. AT&T is trying to buy Time Warner, which owns CNN.
Researchers say trade school is a better way to close the income gap than universities. The study was done by economists at the University of Southern California and New Zealand's Victoria University. They found more investment needs to go to vocational training because "there are too many four-year colleges serving too many students, and too few institutions with greater focus on vocational education and training."
