McDonald's plans 1,000 new restaurants
Early stock markets and those overseas have turned higher after a mostly conciliatory tone in President Trump's State of the Union speech. In it, Trump stayed away from surprises and signaled a willingness to work across party lines.
McDonald's is opening 1,000 new restaurants. It says the new McPick 2 menu is doing well and that customers like the buttermilk chicken tenders. It is also upgrading its technology with more self-ordering kiosks.
Shares of health care-related companies sank after Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway and JPMorgan Chase said they plan to form a venture aimed at lowering health care costs for their U.S. employees. The three corporate giants will use technology to increase transparency, quality and lower costs of the entire health care system.
