Oprah lands on list of world's 500 richest people
Oprah Winfrey just became one of the world's 500 richest people. Her fortune rose to $4 billion, which also makes her the first black female entrepreneur on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. She ranks No. 494.
The founder of JetBlue is reportedly planning another low-cost U.S. carrier. CNBC reported that David Neeleman is planning to launch an airline called Moxy with $100 million. The plan is for the airline to use smaller planes and serve smaller airports.
Markets could be off to a rough start Tuesday. President Donald Trump has requested the United States trade representative to identify $200 billion worth of Chinese goods for additional tariffs at a rate of 10 percent. The president said the new duties will go into effect "if China refuses to change its practices, and also if it insists on going forward with the new tariffs that it has recently announced."
AT&T didn't wait to announce major changes at the newly acquired Time Warner. Among them: John Martin, the CEO of Turner Broadcasting, is leaving the company. Also, Comcast will be one of the most indebted companies in the world if it goes through with its $65 billion offer to buy 21st Century Fox.
