Five candidates submit nomination papers for Fall River recall election

    Five people have turned in nomination papers for the March 12 mayoral recall election in Fall River.

    The Herald News reported that incumbent Mayor Jasiel Correia, School Committee member Paul Coogan, City Councilor Joseph Camara, school administrator Kyle Riley, and Erica Scott-Pacheco, the director of development for the South Coastal Legal Services in Fall River, submitted nomination papers.

    The city will review signatures to determine eligibility for the ballot.

    Voters will decide whether to keep Correia in office. The mayor is facing a 13-count federal indictment on fraud and tax charges.

    Feb. 20 is the deadline to register to vote in the recall election.
