Only on 10: Sports Team 10 sits down with Hurley about emotional decision to leave URI
It's been an emotional 24 hours for former URI head coach Dan Hurley.
After six seasons in Kingston and two NCAA appearances, Sports Team 10 reported Thursday morning that Hurley is heading to UConn.
But the decision did not come easy.
While URI Athletic Director Thorr Bjorn came to the table with a competitive offer, the big-time program allure of UConn was the difference.
Sports Team 10’s Joe Kayata exclusively spoke with Hurley about the emotional move.
"It's a horrible feeling to feel like you let people down but you've got to be strong enough to make a decision that you feel like is in the best interest of your family, and, to a lesser degree, your career," Hurley said with tears in his eyes. "People have no idea what the last few days have been like."
