A newly signed New England Patriots player has taken to social media to set the record straight on what Patriots Nation fans can expect from him.

James Harrison posted a lengthy message on his Instagram handle saying: If anybody thougth I signed a two-year deal with a team in the NFL at age 39 to sit on the bench and collect a check and participation trophy, they're mistaken.

Harrison goes on to say that he didn't agree to play for the Patriots to sit on the bench and "be a cheerleader."

"I was clear about that when I signed and I was told I would be on the field when I signed," Harrison wrote. The post garnered more than 163,000 likes and comments from fans such as, "I'm sorry man, you deserve better. Good luck in New England."
