New England Patriots fans might be losing one of their favorite players, as the NFL reported Monday afternoon that Danny Amendola is expected to sign with the Miami Dolphins.

The 32-year-old wide receiver has been playing for the Patriots for the last five seasons.

It's reportedly a 2-year deal, worth about $12 million.

In February, Amendola visited Bryant University and spoke to students about his experience with the Patriots and what it takes to play and win with character at the championship level.

He also discussed his future with the Patriots, noting that he wanted to stay with the team.

"To tell you the truth, I don't want to leave," he said. "But, you know, I mean, it's a business and I've learned that the hard way."

Students made it clear they want him to stay put.

"Don't leave," a few yelled from the crowd.
