Report: Julian Edelman's appeal denied
New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman's appeal has been denied, according to a report.
“Patriots’ WR Julian Edelman’s appeal was denied today, per source. His four-game suspension stands,” ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted Tuesday night.
Edelman was recently suspended for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs.
Reports of a failed drug test surfaced in June. The league's drug testers reportedly didn't recognize the substance.
A source told ESPN that another key issue at the center of Edelman's appeal involves alleged mishandling of the documentation and delivery of test results.
Edelman apologized for the failed test, but he said he doesn't know what happened.
Edelman, a 32-year-old receiver, missed last season because of an ACL tear.
ESPN reported that Edelman might pursue an appeal of his case in federal court.
