Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia will begin his 20-day rehab assignment Monday night for the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox as he continues to recover from off-season knee surgery.

Pedroia will bat third and play second base in the game, which starts at 6:15 p.m. at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket where the Paw Sox will face the Buffalo Bisons.

"I'm fine now, man," Pedroia told Sports Team 10 ahead of the game. "There's no -- I don't have any issues. I think, you know, the work that we put in to get to this point is the reason why, so you're going to see the same guy you've seen play for however many years I've played."

Pedroia has been on the disabled list since the start of the season after undergoing surgery on his left knee in October.

"This is obviously a first step, you know? It's more for me than anyone else, knowing mentally that I'm OK and back to normal," he said.
