Sam Read joined the NBC 10 team in September 2018. She is currently a multimedia journalist.
Sam hails from Westerly and is thrilled to be home and near her family.
Prior to coming back to the Ocean State, Sam was reporting for CBS13 and FOX23 in Portland, Maine. She started her career in Panama City Beach, Florida.
During her first year of reporting she was awarded first place for "Best Hard News Feature" from the Florida Associated Press.
In 2017 she was awarded three first-place awards by the Associated Press for general assignment, continuing coverage and best sports feature.
Sam has covered a wide variety of things, including a nationwide manhunt for an alleged cop killer, Hurricane Jose, and the Patriots AFC Championship Game.
Sports have a way with her heart, she graduated from Springfield College in 2013 with a communications, sports journalism degree.
It has been a dream to report for her home state. She enjoys trying new things outdoors, lounging at Misquamicut Beach in her home town and rooting for the New York Giants (sorry).
