It really can't be argued that we have gotten off easy so far this winter when it comes to cold and snow.
After all, the coldest air and most snow we've seen happened back in November!
But that changes this weekend as an arctic air mass spills in to southern New England.
Bringing with it the longest stretch of potential sub-freezing temperatures we have seen in over a year.
You may remember that brutally cold stretch from Christmas through the first week of January last year (which also included a blizzard!).
As temps drop below freezing Thursday evening, some areas may not see it climb above 32 degrees until Monday afternoon.
Of course it's no surprise that it gets cold in January and statistically speaking, this weekend marks the heart of winter.
The coldest days of the year, on average are January 15 & 16.
So for a winter hasn't seen too many cold days up to this point, based on what history tells us, it's about time that this type of cold arrives!
Thanks for reading, and stay warm this weekend!
